Diabetic Foot & Wound Management
Early, decisive treatment of infection and poor circulation is what prevents amputation. Debridement, drainage, skin grafting and restoring blood supply, planned together.

- Surgical Wound Debridement
- Debridement of Infected Diabetic Foot Wounds
- Abscess Drainage and Wound Management
- Split-Thickness Skin Grafting (SSG)

Venous Disorders
Modern varicose vein treatment uses laser, radiofrequency or foam through a needle puncture, usually as a day procedure. Care for leg clots and long-term venous disease too.
- Varicose Vein Treatment
- Endovenous Laser Therapy (EVLT/EVLA)
- Radiofrequency Ablation (RFA)
- Foam Sclerotherapy

- Superficial Venous Thrombosis Management
- Post-Thrombotic Venous Disease
Vascular Trauma & Emergency Surgery
Injuries to blood vessels from accidents, cuts or crush injuries need fast control of bleeding and repair to keep the limb alive. Available for emergency reconstruction.

When to consult
Signs your circulation needs attention
Vascular problems are easier to treat early. See a vascular surgeon if you notice any of these.
Calf pain when walking
Cramping that starts after a set distance and eases with rest can mean blocked leg arteries.
A wound that will not heal
Any foot or leg ulcer open for more than two weeks, especially if you have diabetes.
Blackened or cold toes
Colour change, coldness or pain at rest in the foot point to poor blood supply.
Bulging, aching veins
Heaviness, itching, skin darkening near the ankle or swelling by evening.
One swollen, painful leg
Sudden swelling of one leg can be a deep vein clot (DVT) and needs prompt assessment.
Fistula problems
Loss of the buzz (thrill) over your fistula, a growing swelling, or difficulty during dialysis.
A limb that suddenly becomes cold, pale, numb and painful, or heavy bleeding from an injury or fistula, is a vascular emergency. Every hour matters for saving the limb.

Frequently asked questions
Who is Dr Anurag Bhattacharjee and what are his qualifications?
Dr Anurag Bhattacharjee is a vascular and endovascular surgeon in Mumbai. He holds MBBS, MS (General Surgery) and MCh (Vascular Surgery) degrees from Govt. Stanley Medical College.
Where does Dr Anurag Bhattacharjee consult in Mumbai?
He consults at SRV Hospital (Goregaon West, main clinic), Millat Nursing Home, Mallika Hospital and SRK Lifecare Hospital (Jogeshwari West), Curis Multi-Speciality Clinic (Andheri West) and Navneet Hi-Tech Hospital (Dahisar). Call or WhatsApp +91 72087 61463 to book.
What is an AV fistula and why do I need one?
An AV fistula is a direct connection made between an artery and a vein, usually in the arm. The extra flow makes the vein larger and stronger so it can be used for haemodialysis again and again. It is the preferred long-term access because it lasts longer and has fewer infections than catheters or grafts.
How long does a fistula take to be ready for dialysis?
Most fistulas need around six to eight weeks to mature, sometimes longer. That is why it helps to plan access early, before dialysis is urgently needed. If a fistula is not maturing, procedures are available to help it develop.
Can my blocked or clotted fistula be saved?
Often, yes. A thrombosed fistula should be seen as early as possible, ideally within a day or two. Clot removal, revision or angioplasty can frequently restore it and spare you a new access operation.
Is laser or RFA for varicose veins painful? Will I stay in hospital?
Endovenous laser and radiofrequency ablation are done through a needle puncture under local anaesthesia. Most patients go home the same day and walk immediately afterwards, returning to normal activity within a few days.
I have diabetes and a foot wound. When should I see a vascular surgeon?
As soon as possible. Diabetic foot wounds can worsen quickly when infection and poor circulation combine. Early debridement and checking the blood supply are the most effective ways to avoid amputation.
What should I bring to my first consultation?
Bring your previous reports, scans (Doppler, CT or angiography), a list of current medicines, and your dialysis details if applicable.
